24 hours with a broken plugin

magnifying_glass-1 Over the last 24 hours, one of my wordpress plugins broke.

Not sure why it broke, but it killed the website.

Traffic came to a screeching halt at 2.30pm CST yesterday.

At the same time, my host had a hardware problem which crashed their server for several hours.  Yet all my other websites came up after the repair, but this one didn’t.

Put the two factors together and the site broke for good.  I thought it was their problem and it turned out to be mine.

gorillascratchinghead What was broken?  Left me scratching my head.

Finally got a note from technical support this afternoon that suggested to me that one of my plugins that run wordpress broke.

I removed the plugins and all the files from the directory and wal-la!  The site is up and running.  Didn’t take long for traffic to start its rush around the site.

I’ve put all but the broken plugin back up, so the site should work fine.

Now how a plugin suddenly broke when I didn’t make any changes to the code sure has me baffled.   . . . . . .

Thanks for stopping by.
