Church Websites can be Embarassing
Last week, I spoke with a small suburban church pastor who apologetically murmured how his church website embarrassed him.
“I’m sorry you had to see that.”
He went on to explain how it was setup 10 years ago by a church member who has since moved on and how impossible it is to maintain with all those HTML tags, menus in different parts of different pages, and all the interlinking. . .
Your Church Website
Your church website serves as the front porch — where visitors check you out before seeing you in person.
Something slapped together by a coder who loved HTML but not color schemes doesn’t help your assistant publish your newsletter, or make updates very easy. You can’t communicate with your people.
You know there are plenty of free church website resources to help you, but most of you are too busy to process all the free information out there.
Some of it you can do for free, but you have spend hours learning how to do it first.
Affordable Church Websites
Let me recommend a solution:
$300 Church Websites <-Click on this link
Seminary Student and Owner Neal Locke helped me take Evangelismcoach.org from a cheap looking disastrous website to what you see today, getting over 20,000 pageviews each month.
He can turn your clumsy embarrassing church website into a awesome front porch for your visitors to come and see you before coming to see you.
You don’t need to know HTML, colors codes or graphic design.
You can simply write, and hit publish. It’s that simple.
Don’t like the layout? With a click of a few buttons, you can change it and none of your links will break. NO RECODING.
What he installs and sets up is so easy that I can teach you how to do it, but Neal is the best man for this job. You don’t even have to buy software, because the software that runs this is free.
The flat fee of $300 is specifically intended to reach out to organizations who might not otherwise be able to afford a unique, professional-looking web presence.
He even gives 30 days of support to help you get used to how it works. I didn’t need 30 days. I got it in less than 2. Your whole staff can get it in less than a week I bet.
Make it part of your evangelism budget, church marketing budget, or just office expense.
Sure, you could do it free, but who has done anything about it in 10 years?
Your church website should not embarrass you.

I realize that $300 is really inexpensive in the modern scale of things, but for a small church it’s an enormous amount. We are already struggling to meet our budget, are exactly the kind of church that needs your help, but can’t afford it. Any ideas?
Hi Sue,
I do have some ideas for you. Almost all of the tools that I use for web design (especially wordpress) are free, and there are some good tutorials out there too. If you have someone in your church willing to spend a little time studying, I can make some recommendations on where to start.
That said, I realize that sometimes small churches don’t have the time to sift through tutorials, and even good tutorials can sometimes be hard to follow for those who aren’t technically inclined.
The $300 I charge is mostly for the custom design–that’s what takes up the largest chunk of time to do. But there are thousands of pre-designed wordpress “themes” (think of wordpress like a body, and the themes as clothes you put on it) out there that can still look good for a church website. If all a church needs is hosting, setting up wordpress with a pre-designed theme, and they’re willing to do all of the content-writing for the website, I’ve often done arrangements for significantly less than $300.
Like I said, my main interest is in helping churches that couldn’t otherwise afford a website. If there’s a will, we can find a way. Send me an email at neal @ mrlocke dot net and we can talk more about your church and what would work best (without breaking your budget).
