This video first appeared in 2014, when I was still recording on tape and trying to figure out how to frame myself in the shot.
The funny thing is — the greeter problems I talked about back then are still alive and well today!
Turns out, human nature doesn’t upgrade as fast as camera technology.
A completely new Church Greeter Training Series is coming in early 2026, filmed in HD, but teaching the same timeless truths (with a few more gray hairs of experience).

In this 4th video, I want to address some of the most common problems I have run into as a trainer of church greeters.
As I have spent time with various churches over the years, these are three common problems that most of you need to address:
- A Stinky Church Greeter
- A Hugger of a Greeter
- A Bored Greeter
When the video is over, I’ll invite you to email me your challenges that greeters present you. I want to create some new videos this year.
As I mentioned in the video, if you have a challenged greeter, feel free to email me your question and I’ll work at turning it into a video.

When these training videos first appeared on ChurchGreeterTraining.com, many church leaders and volunteers shared their insights, stories, and questions in the comments.
During the migration to EvangelismCoach.org, many of those original comments couldn’t be transferred.
Let’s start the conversation fresh — share one takeaway or idea that helped you today. What stood out to you, or what could you put into practice with your greeter team this week?
