I recently have been ill with a strong viral infection that has kept me in bed for nearly two weeks. That doesn’t mean I’m not reading. Here is just a sample of some items that have inspired me.
How to Make Boring Church Announcements Memorable via @biblegateway
So, if you believe announcements are important and you want people to remember them, violate your congregation’s expectations. Here are a few simple ideas to incorporate into your announcements.
At our own church, we made a painful mistake a few weeks ago: our announcements took nearly 30 minutes. That was deadly.
While there are a variety of reasons why that happened, the fact that we took 30 minute to cover everything was just too much. Announcements should be brief, short, and then supplemented with information in the bulletin, church website, and other channels of communication to your members.
Do you want to make your video announcements visitor friendly? Here are two ideas.
7 Reasons Why Churches Don’t Cultivate Spiritual Growth via @jr_whitehurst
The single most important question that every local church must ask itself is: why are we here?
If the answer to that question is anything other than to see people come to know Jesus, and then to disciple them and others who are followers of Jesus, then that is an epic fail.
The local church must be fishers of men AND keepers of the aquarium.
4 Vital Parts to Re-Producing Great Leaders by @artiedavis
I feel a great sense of urgency that we have to equip and empower an entire new army of leaders, younger leaders that have incredible passion for the mission of the church to multiply. In response to that, we have revamped our leadership development process.
At its core our new process has 4-Parts…
If you are growing leaders, what is your reason? Recently, I spoke with a church planter about the steps he is taking to grow his leaders. The critical question for me is
- What is the purpose of your leadership training?
People will make sacrifices to attend a training if there is a destination or purpose. If people loose track of the destination or purpose, they will stop coming. They will stop learning.
- Are you training leaders to raise up spiritual giants?
- Are Developing leaders for your hospitality ministry?
- Are you training future elders for your church?
It’s great to provide training on leadership, but be sure you know the desired outcome.Related posts:
