Last weekend, I got to teach a Sunday School class in Virginia Beach.
No big deal right?
However, I wasn’t in Virginia Beach.
The class was done via video conferencing over Skype.
Here is what the organizer had to say.
Chris’ guest appearance via Skype in our Sunday School class inspired the class to focus on evangelism.
He was able to directly address issues of feeling afraid to talk to people about Christ with the power of the Holy Spirit. If the Holy Spirit is leading us in our evangelism then there’s nothing to be afraid of.
He also encouraged the class to dig deep in their prayer life for those that are seeking Christ, but have not yet joined the family of God.
Then the class committed to praying for God’s leading in relationships with potential believers.
The following week we discussed what we had learned and the class had really thought about it all week and prayed. It was just the kind of event needed to infuse life into our Sunday School class.
Using Skype was a great way to get Chris there in our class without having to fly him in, host him, etc.
All it took was a laptop/wireless, microphone, webcam and speakers.
If our class was larger then a data projector would have been helpful. It really made it feasible for a class time, 45 minute type of introduction.

It benefited the class in that there were no travel expenses to bring me there.
It benefited me in that I didn’t have to travel to give a 45 minute presentation.
