When I travel, I do my best to make sure I don’t eat alone. On a recent trip, a pastor took me out to lunch, along with 2 others from his church.
On the one hand, it was a blessing to be treated to such great hospitality. It also became a great time to challenge this team to think about evangelism issues on their heart.
The key question that came out of that lunch meeting was
- “how can we change the perceptions of faith sharing and introduce new models?”
Here is what the pastor sent me, reflecting on that lunch meeting:
The Value of Having Lunch
Chris, I want to thank you so much for the lunch you shared with me, our Outreach Moderator and our seminary intern.
Having the chance to do a back and forth discussion on your ideas and to bounce suggestions off you (and each other) was enormously helpful.
I felt our discussion was able to get deeper into issues than the ordinary “Q&A” which often happens after meetings.
The time was well spent. I hope we can do it again.

As part of the National Capital Presbytery speaking tour in May, there are lunch or dinner spots available where this kind of focused conversation can happen.
If you’ve got a team and you’d like to get unstuck in a particular area of evangelism, this type of meeting can help you do that.
Contact Pastor Geoff McLean of Christ Presbyterian church to schedule a lunch.

Priority is given to the churches of the Presbytery, but this is an open invitation to churches in the DC metro area.
